1.  Alaska Mountain Goat Hunt                                                 EXHIBITOR

Often regarded as the most challenging hunt in North America, here is your chance to chase White Gold. Hal LaPointe of Far North Adventures is offering up a tremendous opportunity to hunt for mountain goat in the Puget Bay area of Alaska. The donation is good for September of 2019. You can discuss with Hal moving it to 2020 but, there may be an additional charge due to price increases. Your adventure starts when you charter a float plane out of Anchorage and fly along the Prince William Sound landing on a glacier lake in the remote region of the Puget Bay. Base camp is a small cabin on the lake’s shore which provides comfortable bunks and a wood stove to warm up on the cold or rainy days. From this point you have 2 options. For those physically fit and more adventurous, you can climb to the top of the mountain and spike out in a tent right where the goats live. For those looking for a less physically demanding hunt, Hal will take you along the ocean’s shore where goats will come out on the cliffs overhead.  Either way, Hal has been experiencing 100% success for the past 30 years. You can also add a black bear or wolverine to your bag for a $500 trophy fee each if the opportunity presents itself. Included in the hunt are 1x1 guide service, accommodations and meals in camp, supplies for hunting, Skinning, Quartering and help packing out your trophy. Fishing after the hunt is over is always an option with the ocean on one side and the lake on the other. Not included in the offering are; AK hunting license ($160) or fishing license, mountain goat tag ($600), wolverine tag ($350) or black bear tag ($450), Meat processing, hunting equipment such as guns, clothing, boots, etc., airfare to Anchorage, float plane to camp (Approx $1000 R/T) expenses before or after the hunt in Anchorage, taxidermy and tips. 38.  Hunters choice of Alaska Dall Sheep or Alaskan Yukon Moose Hunt

Solo Creek Guide Services LLC., is a family owned business run by Thomas and Sheila Vaden.  They have graciously donated a hunt to be taken in 2020. Their family has been hunting and guiding in this area since 1960.  It is an exclusive guide area, meaning no other guides can bring clients in.  You will spend 10 days in the Wrangell St. Elias National Preserve which borders the Wrangell St. Elias National Park, in the White River Valley and surrounding foothills and mountains.  Solo Creek only books 4 to 5 hunters each year so they can manage the game numbers for years to come.  Their goal is give you the best hunting experience possible while putting you on as much game as possible.  Days begin in the early morning.  While you are being served breakfast, the camp help and assistant guides are saddling horses and spotting game.  The winner of this auction will have the choice of chasing down either an Alaskan Yukon moose or a prized Dall Sheep. Often, moose or sheep can be spotted in the foot hills just above camp.  If not, hop on horseback and ride further, hunting throughout the day using a spot and stalk method.  If bulls or sheep aren’t found in one area, it’s off to another. This occasionally requires setting up camp away from the lodge and hunting from that location. Hunts are conducted using horses with the final stalk being done on foot. Not include in the donation are, Alaska hunting license, moose tag, sheep tag, taxidermy, shipping of meat or trophy, tips and gratuities and travel to and from Solo Creek.  It is a very remote location with no roads or ATV access.  Thus, the cost of getting into and out of Solo Creek is approx. $1500-$2000. You will travel to Fairbanks Alaska, then 40 Mile Air, will transport you from Fairbanks Alaska to Tok and then on into Solo Creek. Sheila will provide you all the contact information and assist you in booking your flights. LVSCI thanks Thomas & Sheila for their very generous donation.
